The Muslim Digital Safety Ambassador’s (MDSAs ) and the Muslim Digital Citizens (DC s ) have been selected in six schools across London.
We have set up a end of programme competition for all the classes to part take in, with the class putting together the best safety campaign for their year group, winning the award and prizes.
The schools have been taking part in six sessions related to Digital Citizenship, increasing their understanding on digital safety and model behaviours.
Each participating class, led by their nominated Ambassadors and Digital Citizens, are to create a campaign to promote digital safety in their school.
WHAT WILL THE SAFETY CAMPAIGN CONSIST OF?
Each class will need to, as a group of the Muslim Digital Safety Ambassadors and Digital Citizens, put together a Safety Campaign for their year group, to implement for the year ahead.
The Safety Campaign will need to relate to one of the five sessions undertaken in the Programme:
- Media Balance and Well-Being
- Privacy and Security
- Fake News
- Relationships and Communication
- Cyberbullying and Hate-Speech
Select which one of the topics you want to build your safety campaign around and put a plan together!
Each class should present one project brief that answers the following questions:
- What is the campaign?
A description of what steps will be taken to achieve your end goal and improve digital safety.
- Why is it needed at the school?
Research on the reasons why this campaign will help the school more than any other campaign. Have other students complained about this particular problem more than others? Is it something you think will help you feel safer?
- How will it help?
What you expect the campaign to do that will help improve digital safety? Will it raise awareness? Will it train people to be safer online?
- Who will it benefit?
Will this project benefit only the students in your class? Are there any other beneficiaries to your campaign such as teachers or siblings?
- Can it be implemented?
The project must be something realistic that can be achieved within this academic year and something the school’s Senior Leadership Team would agree to help implement.
TASK COMPLETION ASSESSMENT:
Safety Campaigns will be rewarded higher points during the assessment, if they ensure the campaign has as many Digital Citizenship themes as possible, these themes are:
- Honesty
- Patience
- Excellence
- Respect
- Kindness
The safety campaigns that have a balance between online and offline will also be judged more favorably
BONUS POINTS:
Adjudicators will also award bonus points when assessing the safety campaigns to campaigns who have linked good digital safety ideas and practices to Islam, for example, referencing a relevant Hadith, in the campaign.
